Samantha Clutton, the manager of the Cancer Counselling Service at Cancer Council Queensland told us that they specialise in helping people deal with anxiety and/or depression and/or feeling overwhelmed plus decision related stress and relationship issues. (For an appointment based service so you call 13 11 20 Mon-Fri 9-6 and ask to speak to one of the psychologists in the Cancer Counselling Service).

Laurie Lepherd spoke on his research into spirituality and advanced prostate cancer. In answer to a question, Laurie said four of the men in his study had been particularly lifted out of despondency – three by their religious beliefs, and one through a course in Mindfulness. Olivia Wright is a dietitian and lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Queensland. Olivia has worked in the food industry, designing functional foods for a variety of groups. She also has experience in the clinical management of chronic disease and clinical education. Olivia is an Associate Editor for the Dietitians Association of Australia national journal, Nutrition and Dietetics. In 2010, Olivia received Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian status, as recognition of her professional leadership and expertise. Olivia is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Mater Medical Research Institute and an Affiliate Lecturer with the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation. Members who attended the Mater Medical Research Institute presentations at the Mater or at the combined Gold Coast support groups presentation may have met Olivia there. Trish Roderick is a Registered Nurse and Credentialed Diabetes Educator. Jack Fraenkel is an established business and franchise consultant, motivational speaker and corporate trainer with over 30 years of sales, management and commercial experience gained both overseas and in Australia. He has a wealth of knowledge, particularly in retailing and customer service organisations.
When not working on building his and his clients' businesses, Jack is member of the New South Wales Board of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), a Scout Adventurous Activities Instructor, a Rotarian, Parents and Citizens Association Member, School Council Member and Neighbourhood Centre Membership.

Dr Yvonne McMaster trained as a GP 40 years ago and has the higher degree to go with that (FRACGP). But for the past 23 years she has specialised in palliative care. At a time when Yvonne began there were no higher qualifications in palliative medicine. She became, and still regards herself as a palliative care specialist. Yvonne has provided support to cancer survivor support groups at the "San" (Sydney Adventist Hospital), and also regularly presents upon palliative care for other support groups. A recipient of a PCFA Achievement Award, she was recently brought to public attention when a petition she started and fostered (containing 23,000 signatures) was tabled in the NSW parliament resulting in the restoration of $1,000,000 funding cut from palliative care services.

Dr Addie Wootton is a clinical psychologist and Director of Clinical and Allied Health Research at the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre - Epworth. In this role, she oversees the clinical trials, psychosocial research, and other allied health research conducted in the centre or collaboratively with other groups. As a psychologist, Dr Wootten’s key research focus has been the psycho-social experiences of prostate cancer patients and their partners. Dr Wootten is currently the principal investigator on a project co-funded by beyondblue and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, which is investigating the efficacy of an Internet-based psychological intervention for men with prostate cancer. Dr Lisa Horvath, medical oncologist, is the Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Sydney Cancer Centre (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and a Visiting Post-doctoral Scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor within the Central Clinical School of the University of Sydney. She has an active clinical practice and is involved with a large number of clinical trials in prostate, lung and colorectal cancers in addition to phase I trial work. Dr James Mackean is a Radiation Oncologist with sub specialty expertise in prostate brachytherapy as well as special interests in radiotherapy technology, image guided and intensity modulated radiotherapy, RapidArc. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Tasmania in 1988 and completed his specialty training in radiation oncology in 1999. Dr Mackean completed a Fellowship at Mt Vernon Hospital in London from 1999 – 2000.
 
 He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Faculty of Radiation Oncology Genito-Urinary Group. He is also Chair of the Australasian Brachytherapy Group MacKean, a Radiation Oncologist at Premion at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane and in Chermside. My local support group is having a speaker on the "latest imaging techniques for PCa".  Something on imaging might be a suggestion.
