Encore: CAB (like Zoladex/Lucrin and Cosudex) choice for advanced PCa

We have had some recent discussion about the extra side effects some men have when they add a daily Cosudex tablet to their Zoladex or Lucrin implant.

In this article, Dr Gerald Chodak does say that "The survival benefit associated with combined androgen blockade using a nonsteroidal antiandrogen agent should be weighed against the potential for increased toxicity and expense compared with castration alone."

(Cosudex is on the PBS for metastatic men, so whether it is a small or large expense depends upon your doctor's diagnosis.)

But the answer to "Why would you do it?" is that there is a survival benefit.
