As a member of the Australian Advanced Prostate Cancer Support Group it would be difficult for you not to have come across David Abrahams.
Since 2011 David's deep, sonorific, Scottish voice has been heard countless times on our monthly phone-in meetings and in personal contact phone calls. His words of comfort and advice have been particularly welcomed by men facing metastasis or chemotherapy for the first time.
Outside our group, men and their partners in the local support groups in Launceston, Tasmania, and later Toowoomba, Queensland have benefited from David's counsel and his leadership. As a PCFA Ambassador, David has reached countless working men in their workplace, including hundreds of miners.
Finally, some fourteen thousand people have viewed, and taken comfort from, David's story on YouTube.
It is no surprise, then, that because of his "outstanding and significant contribution to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on the Australian community" David has been chosen to receive the Max Gardner Award for Distinguished Service, the most prestigious award presented by Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).

David will travel to Melbourne in May for the presentation ceremony.
I am sure all members join with me in commending David for an achievement well earned!
Congratulations, David!

Jim

Great that your long-term concern to share your experience with others in the same boat has been recognised.
