The Prostate Cancer Experience study will assist in understanding how prostate cancer treatment affects day to day living.  There are many different kinds of treatments, different stages of disease and different sequences of treatment choice making.  The Prostate Cancer Experience encompasses all of the prostate cancer treatments that you may have chosen, from watchful waiting/active surveillance to those for advanced stage disease. The Prostate Cancer Experience is designed to take ten minutes or less to complete.  The Prostate Cancer Experience study is open to all men, from those who have chosen watchful waiting/active surveillance  to those with advanced stage prostate cancer.

This study is being conducted by Malecare (A US based prostate cancer support and advocacy group) with support from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Global Prostate Cancer Alliance. The primary investigator on this study is Darryl Mitteldorf, LCSW (Malecare).

To help you decide if you want to take part, you should understand why the research is being conducted and what it will involve.

What is the study about?

The purpose of this study is to examine the day to day implications of being diagnosed with prostate cancer. We are gathering information to create strategies and interventions that can easily increase quality of life. We are interested in understanding the truth about how prostate cancer treatment impacts quality of life. Recommendations based on the survey and survey results will be made available to everyone.

Do you have a choice?

Participation is voluntary. If you decide to be involved, it will not affect you or the relationships you have with any of the organizations involved in this study. You can withdraw at any time without giving any reason. If you wish to leave the survey, simply close your browser. The survey is anonymous. We will not be able to identify you. This is a survey of diagnosed prostate cancer patients, at all stages of treatment.

Your role?

If you are willing to take part in this study, you will need to complete a survey, which may take about 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey has questions about the impact of prostate cancer on basic aspects of your daily life.
