As the initial three year funding of the first 12 As the initial three year funding of the first 12 Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses draws to a close, I am pleased to report that in 9 cases we are confident that funding responsibility will be picked up by the host site and in 1 case (Latrobe Regional Hospital) the local community is supporting the nurse through the Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch initiative.  That leaves two locations – Royal Adelaide and Tamworth Hospitals – where ongoing funding remains an issue.

We now need to campaign at a local, State and Federal level to secure ongoing funding for the nurses at Tamworth Hospital and Adelaide Hospitals. Julie Sykes and I were recently interviewed by the Adelaide Advertiser and I have written to the NSW Minister for HealthRay Dart and the Tamworth and Armidale PCSGs have been running excellent local campaigns, including meetings with local MPs Kevin Anderson and Adam Marshall.

As part of the Tamworth campaign, we have launched an online advocacy petition.  Please sign our online petition by clicking here: https://www.change.org/p/jillian-skinner-men-s-health-matters-please-fund-a-prostate-cancer-specialist-nurse-in-tamworth-and-hunter-new-england-health-district

We have also launched an online petition to the SA Government to reinstate funding for the Adealaide nurse.  Please click here:https://www.change.org/p/jay-wetherill-mp-men-s-health-matters-please-fund-a-prostate-cancer-specialist-nurse-in-adelaide

Please join us in orchestrating this important men’s health movement to reduce the suffering of Australian men, their partners and families. Please add your voice by signing these petitions.

Your contribution will help orchestrate a Men’s Health Movement which will drive change across the country, and build a better future for all Australians.

Thank you for your support.
