As the initial three year funding of the first 12 As the initial three year funding of the first 12 Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses draws to a close, I am pleased to report that in 9 cases we are confident that funding responsibility will be picked up by the host site and in 1 case (Latrobe Regional Hospital) the local community is supporting the nurse through the Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch initiative. That leaves two locations – Royal Adelaide and Tamworth Hospitals – where ongoing funding remains an issue. We now need to campaign at a local, State and Federal level to secure ongoing funding for the nurses at Tamworth Hospital and Adelaide Hospitals. Julie Sykes and I were recently interviewed by the Adelaide Advertiser and I have written to the NSW Minister for Health. Ray Dart and the Tamworth and Armidale PCSGs have been running excellent local campaigns, including meetings with local MPs Kevin Anderson and Adam Marshall.
