JimmyToowong
John Stead has sent through this trial of MDV3100. It is for prostate cancer progressing despite hormone therapy, with no chemotherapy so far. This trial is called the PREVAIL trial. It is a standard placebo-controlled, randomized, double blind study. That means that half the men will get a MDV3100 pill and the other half of the men will get a fake pill that looks and tastes the same. At the end of the study, the groups will be compared to see how they did in: Overall Survival Progression-free Survival Time to first skeletal-related event Time to initiation of cytotoxic chemotherapy. Guest PaulHoskins
MDV3100 (PREVAIL) Trial On receiving the information regarding the trial I sent my details down to Robyn Medcraft, the RN Urology Research Coordinator at the UoQ. I received and reviewed the Patient Information and Consent Forms. The trial appears to be very detailed, with monthly checks, Quarterly CT Scans, Bone Scans & MRI's. Last week Robyn contacted me to advise that I was not able to participate in the trial as I have had ERBT to my Sacrum. People who have had ERBT to their Prostate are eligible but not those who have had ERBT on any other areas.
Guest PaulHoskins
After receiving the e-mail in regard to the MDV3100 Trial, to be performed at the University of Qld by Prof. Frank Gardiner, I sent my Prostate Cancer details down for their review and suitability for inclusion. Having read the initial inclusion requirements I appeared to fit the bill; Cheotherapy-Naive Progressive Metastatic Pca Failed initial ADT I received the 'Participant Information and Consent Form' on 22 September and had just finished reading the procedures for a second time when I received an e-mail from Robyn Medcraft RN Urology Research Coordinator. The following is the body of the e-mail;' I have had a meeting with the clinical trial monitor today and discussed your eligibility, unfortunately you have received ERBT on bony mets in your S1 Sacrum, as per the protocol of this trial you are only eligible if you have only received ERBT to your Prostate. Paul I'm really sorry that you don't fit the criteria for this trial but I can ask professor Gardiner if he knows of any other trials about.' So, back to the drawing board.
