ADT side effects - How to alleviate side effects on memory?

Other than diet and exercise, has anyone got any suggestions as to how to alleviate the side effects of ADT on cognition and memory?

Dr Myers in the comments to his 11 September 2013 video said:

"There are many tools to minimize the side effects of Lupron or similar drugs. For example, Vivelle dot 0.025 mg/day patch every 3.5 days lessens hot flashes and improves cognitive function. This is well tolerated."

My medical team said Estrogen patches for this purpose failed the benefit/risk test - no documented evidence of benefit in clinical trials against significant risks (cardiovascular, gastrointestinal etc etc)

I'd be interested if any members have had low dose estrogen patches prescribed by their doctors for the side effects of ADT.

Diet and exercise has not helped me with hot flushes post hormone and external beam treatment

Although with time ( almost 12 months now ) the hot flushes are diminishing ever so slowly

I supose the hot Queensland climate does not help

Due to see specialist in early December to discus this very subject

I have been on continuous hormone therapy for over 8 years and would say the bad effects of ADT have diminished over time

The first couple of yearswere the worst and I had difficulty with my short term memory but the hot flushes were never that bad.

I believe it is important to keep active -I am a tax accountant and still do  some work for clients and that helps.Of course diet and exercise help but I also practice yoga,meditation and have acupuncture every week.I have never taken medication for ADT effects but do take numerous supplements including Ginko Beloba for memory.I subscribe to the Life Extension organisation in USA and obtain all my supplement from them -order via Fiji -check out their website-they are non profit-I also subscribe to DR Myers newsletter as I believe he is one of the best experts in this field

Paul and Billy - Thanks for the comments.

I'm also using Life Extension supplements which is one of the companies that Snuffy Myers recommends. However I order them through www.iherb.com. I find the price similar to ordering from Life Extension but the freight is much cheaper and faster. The last lot of supplements I ordered from iherb on Friday afternoon Australian time and received them on Monday afternoon Australian time. The freight cost USD8.

I Googled wwiherb.com and looked at the review sites.  They showed quite a mixed bag of opinions from "great' to "never use them again "

Seems they were once very good but have not maintained their original standard of customer service.

 

I'm reluctant to deal with any internet company with any question marks hanging over their quality of service.

Any suggestions or comments?
